Web Reference: Sequence alignments are a collection of two or more sequences that have been aligned to each other – usually with the insertion of gaps, and the addition of leading or trailing gaps – such that all the sequence strings are the same length. To obtain aligned sequences, we can call the to_aligned method of the path. As we can see, by inserting four consecutive gaps in the appropriate positions, the two sequences appear more similar, or “aligned”, with one another.
