Web Reference: Nov 6, 2015 · In general, how can I get a reference to an object whose name I have in a string? More specifically, I have a list of the parameter names (the member variables - built dynamically so I can't refer to them directly). An instance variable has a name beginning with @, and its scope is confined to whatever object self refers to. Two different objects, even if they belong to the same class, are allowed to have different values for their instance variables. To access an instance variable, you define a getter method for that variable within the class. The getter method’s name usually matches the instance variable name, and it returns the value of the instance variable.
