Web Reference: A module in Jython is a file containing Python definitions and statements which in turn define a namespace. The module name is the same as the file name with the suffix .py removed, so in our current example the Python file “breakfast.py” defines the module “breakfast”. The Jython project provides implementations of Python in Java, providing to Python the benefits of running on the JVM and access to classes written in Java. The current release (a Jython 2.7.x) only supports Python 2 (sorry). Jython and CPython are two different implementations of the same language. There are naturally some differences between the two implementations, sometimes reflecting undefined aspects of the Python language, sometimes reflecting quirks of the independent implementations.
