You need errors that carry meaningful names, specific error codes, and relevant context. JavaScript lets you create custom error classes by extending the built-in Error constructor. These custom errors integrate seamlessly with try...catch, instanceof checks, and the prototype chain. You have to switch on Error-type-hierarchy or object-value in JavaScript because you can only specify a single catch block. In your solution, (x instanceof NotImplementedError) is false, which isn't acceptable in my case.
