Web Reference: Aug 6, 2025 · The subList () method of the ArrayList class in Java is used to retrieve a portion of an ArrayList between specified indices. When we perform any modifications to the sub list, that will reflect in the original list and vice versa. The subList() method returns a new list (referred to as a sublist) which contains the items of the list between two indices. Note: The item at the last index is not included in the sublist. Using subList(30, 38); will fail because max index 38 is not available in list, so its not possible. Only way may be before asking for the sublist, you explicitly determine the max index using list size () method.
