Web Reference: Mar 28, 2026 · Java 3D is an API that enables developers to create and manipulate three-dimensional graphics within Java applications. It provides a high-level, object-oriented framework for creating 3D scenes, including geometric shapes, lighting, and camera control. All rendering operations modify only pixels which lie within the area bounded by the current clip, which is specified by a Shape in user space and is controlled by the program using the Graphics object. In general, a 3D shape is a geometrical figure that can be drawn on the XYZ plane. They are defined by two or more dimensions, commonly length, width and depth. 3D shapes supported by JavaFX include a Cylinder, Sphere and a Box.
