Web Reference: Apr 28, 2025 · Caching is added to a pipeline by adding the Cache task to the steps section of a job. During pipeline execution, when a cache step is encountered, the task attempts to restore the cache based on the provided inputs. If no cache is found, the step completes, and the next step in the job is executed. Nov 14, 2023 · As @Daniel Mann has clarified, the saved cache files are stored in the storages of Azure DevOps rather than the local path on agent machine. The subsequent pipeline runs/jobs normally can quickly access and restore the saved cache files to the user-specified path on the agent machine. When you enable caching in Azure DevOps, the platform will automatically store specified files and directories in a cache during the build process. These cached items are then available for reuse in future builds, provided that the cache key and contents remain the same.
