Aug 13, 2022 · You might expect John Carmack to be pretty old school and dogmatic on using e.g. C and instead it seems he has a very broad taste and experience with different languages and tools. I use emacs with LSP for a few languages and it's really nice, actually (currently using it for Zig, Go and Rust). With that said: my favourite IDEs are still the JetBrains IDEs (IntelliJ for Java/Kotlin/Groovy/Dart/Rust is unbeatable).
