Web Reference: Jul 10, 2025 · The replace() method of String values returns a new string with one, some, or all matches of a pattern replaced by a replacement. The pattern can be a string or a RegExp, and the replacement can be a string or a function called for each match. The replace() method does not change the original string. If you replace a value, only the first instance will be replaced. To replace all instances, use a regular expression with the g modifier set. Read more about regular expressions in our: RegExp Tutorial RegExp Reference - replaces all matches Learn why the string replace method may not replace certain characters and how to ensure all intended replacements occur in your code.
