I'm guessing that you have more columns listed than you have "place holders". If the columns in the 'group by' do not include all columns in the windowed function, then a 3504 error is returned. This functionality applies to all cases where windowed aggregate functions are allowed ( i.e. having clause, qualify clause, select list).
