Web Reference: Samuel Cohen (June 18, 1913 – January 15, 1993), known professionally as Sammy Cahn, was an American lyricist, songwriter, and musician. He is best known for his romantic lyrics to films and Broadway songs, as well as stand-alone songs premiered by recording companies in the Greater Los Angeles area. Father of famous jazz fusion guitarist Steve Khan. Won Academy Awards for four songs: "Three Coins in the Fountain", "High Hopes", " All the Way" and "Call Me Irresponsible". The line "sleep with a smile" is written on his gravestone. Wrote his first lyric, "Like Niagara Falls, I'm Falling for You" at age 16. Sammy Cahn was an American lyricist who, in collaboration with such composers as Saul Chaplin, Jule Styne, and Jimmy Van Heusen, wrote songs that won four Academy Awards and became number one hits for many performers, notably Frank Sinatra.
