See also Enumerable#collect. If no block is given, an Enumerator is returned instead. a = [ "a", "b", "c", "d" ] a. collect { |x| x + "!" } #=> ["a!", "b!", "c!", "d!"] a. Different words for the same attribute of an array, but by this, Ruby enables you to pick the most appropriate word for your code: do you want the number of items you're collecting, the length of an array, or the current size of the structure.
