He was the head coach of the Cleveland Browns from 1984 to 1988, the Kansas City Chiefs from 1989 to 1998, the Washington Redskins in 2001, and the San Diego Chargers from 2002 to 2006. Feb 9, 2021 · Schottenheimer is survived by his wife of 54 years, Pat, his children Kristen and Brian, and grandchildren Brandon, Catherine, Sutton, and Savannah. Schottenheimer’s NFL coaching career ended in 2006 following a 14-2 season with the Chargers and a divisional-round exit from the playoffs.
