Web Reference: This module should be combined with at least one authentication module such as mod_authn_file and one authorization module such as mod_authz_user. Once the user has been successfully authenticated, the user's login details will be stored in a session provided by mod_session. This module enables an Apache 2.x web server to operate as an OpenID Connect Relying Party (RP) towards an OpenID Connect Provider (OP). It relays end user authentication to a Provider and receives user identity information from that Provider. This module allows the use of HTTP Basic Authentication to restrict access by looking up users in plain text password and group files. Similar functionality and greater scalability is provided by mod_auth_dbm and mod_auth_db. HTTP Digest Authentication is provided by mod_auth_digest.
