The main difference between Comparable and Comparator is: Comparable: It is used to define the natural ordering of the objects within the class. Comparator: It is used to define custom sorting logic externally. Comparisons in Java are quite easy, until they’re not. When working with custom types, or trying to compare objects that aren’t directly comparable, we need to make use of a comparison strategy. We can build one simply by making use of the Comparator or Comparableinterfaces. Objects that implement this interface can be used as keys in a sorted map or as elements in a sorted set, without the need to specify a comparator.
